The city is a travel hub of entire India. Narrating the city's Mughal past, Old
Delhi, takes you through the narrow lanes of Chandani Chalk, passing through formidable
mosques of Jama Masjid, just opposite to it lies the famous monument of Red fort.
The imperial city of New Delhi highlights the monumental structures of India Gate,
President House representing the colonial style of architecture. Besides its monumental
heritage, Delhi is also a shopper's paradise and has most exciting nightlife in
its disco-thecae, restaurants, and cinema halls.
Situated on Rajpath, in the center of Delhi, this 42-meter high arch was designed
by Edwin Lutyens, in memory of the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during
the First World War Their names can be seen inscribed on the arch. The Amar Jawan
Jyoti, an eternal flame, burns in memory of the unknown soldier, beneath the shelter
of the arch, which is surrounded by green lawns, fountains and water bodies - an
evergreen picnic zone in the heart of central Delhi.
Travel to Jaipur to witness the City Palace, which is a fascinating landmark. The
Hawa Mahal reflects the imposing blend of masterpiece of Rajasthan architecture.
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh built this fascinating palace during his rule. The architecture
of the City Palace simply reflects the fine architecture of ancient India. The City

The president's mansion is situated on Raisina Hill in the center of Delhi, overlooking
the green lawns around India Gate. This elegant building is truly worth seeing,
for its architectural beauty and historic significance. The beautiful Mughal Gardens
of Rashtrapati Bhawan, which are open to the public in spring, are an added attraction.
Located in Central Delhi, this elegant building with its wide pillared walkways
and large halls is worth a visit, to see the corridors of power where India's lawmakers

It was built by the industrialist Raja Baldev Birla in 1938. The temple is an important
prayer center and contains idols of several deities. Interestingly, Mahatma Gandhi,
who inaugurated the temple, was also a regular visitor to it.
The construction of Humayun's tomb was taken up by the grief-stricken wife of Humayun,
Hamida Banu, also known as Bega Begam in 1565. Legend has it that the design of
the Taj was inspired from this tomb's. In pure architectural sense, this building
is probably superior and much more beautiful that the stunning Taj. Sacrilege? But
really, the only thing this building lacks is the showy marble.
Built in Red Sand stone this imposing fort is 3 kms in perimeter with the height
of the wall varying from 18 to 30 meters at places. When the Red fort was being
built Yamuna used to flow on its one sides and there were deep moats on the other.
Today Yamuna flows almost a kilometer away from the fort and the moats has dried
up. In the evening the Delhi Tourism organizes a light and sound show which narrates
the history of Delhi in context of the Red Fort.
the main entrance, has some emotions and sentiments attached with the Indian independence
as the Tricolor flutters on the top of this gate. On 15th August the Indian Prime
minister addresses the nation from here. As soon one enters in the fort from the
Lahore gate .The Dewan-i-Am or the place of public hearing had a wall paneled with
marble in laid with precious stone, which were removed during the mutiny of 1857.
The Dewan-i-Khas or the place for special hearing was the area where the emperor
used to hold meetings with his ministers .
Chandani Chowk in Delhi, location dates back to 1648, which was beautifully planned
by Jahanara, daughter of Emperor Shah Jahan in India. Today, Chandani Chowk Main
Street of Old Delhi is a colourful and congested wholesale market. Antiques as well
as modern items are available here.
Built by Shah Jahan in 1658, it is one of the largest mosques in India with a seating
capacity of more than 20,000.
The mosque is situated near the Red Fort in old Delhi. This is the area that still
retains the traditional charm of markets in Mughal times. The bulbous domes and
tapering minarets built with marble stand strong and beautiful even to this day.
This mosque has three gateways, four angle towers and two 40 m. high minarets. You
can even go to the top of minarets and have a bird's eye view of Delhi.
This aesthetically designed monument, commonly known as the Lotus Temple, because
the white marble structure is built to in the shape of a lotus, set amidst, lakes
and green lawns. It is a serene house of meditation, within which there are no idols
and total silence prevails, so all can meditate in complete peace.
The temple represents the Bahai faith which is broad in its outlook, scientific
in the influence it exerts on the hearts and minds of men. It signifies the purity
and the universality of the lord and equality of all religions. Visited by over
four million people, annually, this gleaming lotus- like marble structure is located
on Bahapur Hills (South Delhi) and it is the seventh and most recent Bahai houses
of worship in the world. The temple is a must visit for every tourist who comes
to Delhi. This structure, completed in 1986, is a marvel of modern architecture.
Set amidst pools and gardens, the view of the temple is very spectacular just before
dusk when the temple is flood lit.
The Qutub Minar was started in the 12th C and it was completed in the 13th C. This
ornate tower attracts many international visitors who climb to the top for breathtaking
views of the surrounding area. The Qutub Minar rises over 230 feet in the air, has
five stories and is covered with intricate carvings. The first three stories are
made of red sandstone, the fourth and fifth stories were built with marble and sandstone.
The carvings feature the history of Qutub and inscriptions from the Koran. The complex
surrounding the Qutub Minar includes the Quwwat-ul-Islam Masjid, a mosque located
at the base of the tower; the gateway built in 1310; the tombs of Altamish, Alauddin
Khalji and Imam Zamin, and a 2000 year old Iron Pillar- the Alai Minar. It has been
struck by lightning and survived several earthquakes, despite the wear and tear
the Qutub Minar has a slight tilt but has weathered the centuries well.
In Evening visit - Akshardham Temple is a magnificent Hindu shrine, situated in
the east region of New Delhi. Located on the banks of River Yamuna, it was inaugurated
in November 2005, by the former President of India - APJ Abdul Kalam, the Prime
Minister - Manmohan Singh and Pramukh Swami Maharaj - the spiritual leader of BAPS.
Pramukh Swami Maharaj is the current spiritual leader of Swaminarayan Sanstha, BAPS.
Swaminarayan Akshardham was constructed under his guidance, after his guru, Yogiji
Maharaj, expressed a wish for the same.
As a spiritual leader, Swamiji constantly travels and meets people across the world,
to help them lead better lives. There are various cultural and educational activities
conducted by the Swaminarayan Sanstha. Akshardham is also a part of BAPS's initiative
to promote Indian art, culture and values. BAPS also has a charitable arm, known
as BAPS Care, working for the betterment of the people. The main shrine in the complex
is dedicated to Bhawgwan Swaminarayan.
After morning breakfast departure transfer to airport / railway station to board
flight / train for onward destination.
